Smash Raises the Curtain

7 Feb

The anticipated new CTV show, Smash, aired last night and has been getting great reviews. I watched it, and I loved it. The drama and stress of putting together a Broadway show caught my attention and I was hooked by the first song. The idea of a Marilyn Monroe musical is brilliant, and the competition between Ivy and Karen makes it more interesting. There is past drama between Tom and Derek, and it has not been revealed. Julia is trying to mediate the tension between them, and Eileen is trying to rush everything together.

The cast is stunner, Debra Messing, Katharine McPhee, Jack Davenport, Megan Hilty, Christian Borle and Anjelica Huston. I was a fan of them before this show began, so I was excited to see them together. I watched the show online again, and it was just as dazzling. I have a feeling that this show is going to last.

Glee Does Grease

19 Jan

Tuesday’s opening number of Glee was the one and only Summer Nights from the legendary Grease. The story of Mercedes and Sam having a summer fling was the perfect oppurtinity to sing the song. The cast did an awesome job, like they do with every song they sing. I am a huge fan of Glee and a self proclaimed Gleek, so when it comes to the show I can be a little biast.

Back to the song, I believe that they nailed it. The boys were rocking it T-Bird style and the girls and Kurt were singing like true Pink Ladies. Santana’s Rizzo behavior was perfect for her and both Santana and Rizzo are my favourite characters from both Glee and Grease. I love it when Glee does Broadway songs, musical theatre is where it surfaced from.
